Kim Hyun Joong Reaches ′Gold′ Status in Two Weeks

Hallyu star Kim Hyun Joong′s debut album has achieved ‘Gold’ status in Japan.

According to the million single/album list for January released by the Recording Industry Association of Japan on February 10, Kim’s debut single album, Kiss Kiss Lucky Guy, which was released on January 25 has earned gold certification.

‘Gold’ status is recognized by the Recording Industry Association of Japan when an artist sells over a million copies. This achievement by Kim is more significant for the fact he achieved this feat in two weeks.

On the day of the single album’s release it sold 71,812 copies, landing at number two on the Oricon Singles chart, marking the biggest debut of a foreign artist in Japan since March of 2009.

On February 5 Kim held his live concert debut in Yokohama Arena where he performed for 20,000 fans.
